About the EHTI

The European Health Technology Institute for Socio-Economic Research was officially launched in October 2007.

It is well known that healthcare has become one of the largest industries in western developed countries and one of the most dynamic in terms of job creation and innovation. There remains, however, ongoing concern regarding the adequacy of resources and the way they are currently used, and how best to increase the value, efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare.

Created to address the lack of evidence on the economic value of medical technology, the Research Institute will provide relevant research and evidence to improve knowledge about medical technology and to enhance the prospects for informed public policy decision-making and patient healthcare decisions.

In doing so the Research Institute also aims to build strong partnerships among leading figures in academia, industry and government. By mobilising the synergies between these partners it hopes to enhance the production of top-quality research.
